What is Reiki?
Rei = Universal or Spiritually Guided
Ki = Life force Energy
Reiki is a traditional Japanese form of holistic healing which promotes relaxation, inner peacefulness, balance and harmony within the mind, body and soul while reducing stress, anxiety and pain. This gentle, yet powerful technique is administered by the ‘laying of the hands’ on the physical body or within the energy fields to utilize the natural ‘life force energy’ to flow. This ancient healing technique originated thousands of years ago in India and Tibet. It was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Christian educator in Kyoto, Japan, in the mid-to late 1800s, who made it his life work to share and teach the profound healing benefits with Reiki.
What to Expect:
How do you feel each day? Full of energy, positive and moving forward OR do you feel sluggish, stuck in a daily routine that is no longer motivating or simply looking for an inspirational boost. Negative thoughts, limiting beliefs or old habits can manifest as energy blocks within us. The key to healing is letting go of these barriers and creating new space for energy to flow. The Reiki practitioner acts as a channel or conduit by placing their hands gently on the body or along the energy pathways, specifically on various chakra points.
Through a Reiki healing session, one learns to work with any challenges or obstacles that are currently present to them, by understanding how to start from a place of gratitude and choose a loving response to those difficult situations.

What are Chakras?
The Sanskrit word Chakra means 'wheel'. Much like a spiritual nervous system, chakras act like a spinning vortex wheel, moving energy throughout the body. Reiki healing opens the chakras or energy centers within the body and helps clear any stagnation or overactivity. By balancing the chakras, it enables the absorption and assimilation of energy in a much more efficient manner. Each chakra is connected to specific rights, elements, colours, foods and are even related to specific organs in our body. They serve as invisible portals linking our physical, emotional and spiritual bodies. There is a strong connection between blocked chakras and feeling stuck or lethargic. There are seven main chakras which are worked with during the Reiki session.
